Job Overview: Entry-Level Cook

Join our culinary team as an Entry-Level Cook and begin building your skills in a professional kitchen! You will assist with food preparation, cooking, portioning, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen while working alongside experienced team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, willing to follow instructions, and committed to preparing quality meals while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not required. We are happy to provide training to the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring food items.
• Help prepare and cook menu items under the direction of experienced kitchen staff.
• Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistent food quality, taste, and portion sizes.
• Learn and practice basic cooking techniques, including grilling, baking, boiling, sautéing, and braising.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and follow proper procedures when using knives, stoves, ovens, and food processors.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Properly store, label, and handle food to prevent contamination and spoilage.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure food is ready for scheduled service times.
• Work efficiently with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced cooks while developing culinary skills.
• Assist with receiving and organizing food supplies and rotating inventory as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

• No previous cooking experience required; a willingness to learn is essential.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety is a plus.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food quality and cleanliness.
• Willingness to learn proper knife skills, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment operation.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Previous experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, healthcare kitchen, or food service environment is helpful but not required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine kitchen duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
