Job Summary

Bijan's is seeking a dependable, motivated, and team-oriented Kitchen Team Member to support daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain clean and organized workstations, manage ingredients properly, and help the kitchen team prepare high-quality meals. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy restaurant and takes pride in food quality, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks with preparing ingredients and menu items according to restaurant standards.
• Wash, peel, chop, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients as directed.
• Help prepare components for Persian-American dishes, salads, appetizers, and entrées.
• Keep ingredients organized and follow proper food storage and labeling procedures.
• Support cooks and kitchen staff during busy meal service.
• Maintain clean and sanitized preparation stations, counters, equipment, and utensils.
• Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen tools when additional support is needed.
• Monitor ingredient supplies and notify supervisors when restocking is necessary.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing kitchen storage areas.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Help with opening, closing, and routine kitchen cleaning duties.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, food preparation, or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen sanitation.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to learn new cooking techniques and restaurant procedures.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle routine kitchen tasks.
• Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.

Bijan's is a neighborhood restaurant and cocktail bar in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill neighborhood. Founded in 2011, the restaurant serves creative Persian-American and New American cuisine in a welcoming, rustic-chic setting. Its menu includes Persian-inspired stews, kabobs, salads, burgers, and other freshly prepared dishes. The kitchen team plays an important role in maintaining food quality and providing a positive dining experience.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
