Role Description

The Kitchen Trainee is a full-time, on-site role based at Fika Deli in Colombo. This role supports daily kitchen operations, including assisting with food preparation, basic cooking tasks, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The Kitchen Trainee follows hygiene and safety standards, helps with stocking ingredients, and supports the kitchen team during busy service periods. The role may also involve occasional interaction with guests, coordinating with front-of-house staff, and contributing to a positive, respectful team environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic Food Preparation and Cooking tasks and willingness to learn new kitchen techniques.
• Strong focus on Hygiene, including adherence to food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
• Effective Communication skills to work smoothly with kitchen and front-of-house teams.
• Customer Service mindset, with a friendly and respectful approach when interacting with guests.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time shifts including weekends and peak hours.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or kitchen is an advantage but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
