What they need
Kitchen Training Manager - Ou Meul Bakkery
We're looking for a skilled, hands-on kitchen trainer whose main job is being in our kitchens, teaching our teams to cook, prep and plate the Ou Meul way. This is a role for someone who knows kitchens as a craft: how to get a new dish right every single time, how to teach a technique so it sticks, and how to keep a kitchen safe, clean and running smoothly. You'll want to spend your days doing it alongside the team, not managing it from a desk.
You'll be moving between our stores, working side by side with kitchen teams and training each one yourself. If you take pride in walking out of a kitchen knowing the food is better, the team is sharper and everyone is safer because you were there, this is for you.
The core of the role
- Training our kitchen teams yourself, hands-on, in cooking techniques, food prep, plating and portion control
- Rolling out new menu items and procedures to new and existing staff, so every store gets them right from day one
- Making sure every kitchen follows our recipes, portion sizes and plating guidelines, so an Ou Meul dish tastes and looks the same everywhere
- Teaching safe food handling, hygiene and workplace safety as part of how every kitchen runs day to day
- Keeping an eye on production, so taste, quality and presentation stay consistent
What you'll need
- Proven, hands-on kitchen experience and a qualification or track record that shows you know the craft
- Experience training or leading kitchen teams, ideally in a bakery, café or restaurant group
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen safety standards
- A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between stores
- Patience, clear communication and the energy to be on your feet in a busy kitchen
- Someone who works independently and takes ownership of the standard in every kitchen
Also part of the role (secondary to the training itself)
- Creating and maintaining kitchen training manuals, SOPs and recipe cards
- Assessing staff skills, spotting training needs, and helping store managers develop team members who are struggling
- Auditing kitchens for safety, hygiene and quality, and giving clear feedback and action plans
- Helping set up kitchens and train teams for new store openings
- Working with suppliers when new products or equipment are introduced
- Any other training the business needs
Why join us
You'll own how our food is made, and how our kitchen teams grow, across every store. You'll have the freedom to get into the kitchens and make it happen, and a real hand in shaping the standards, recipes and training behind it.
To apply, send your CV and a short note on your kitchen and training experience to [email protected]
