Kitchen/Bakery Assistant

About the role

Hum Hummus is a small, female-owned, Melbourne-based business. You'll be working alongside us to produce fresh Middle Eastern food for weekly Farmers Markets. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and best suited to someone with solid basic kitchen skills who can step into a production environment quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Thursday cold production: prepare hummus, tabbouleh, labneh, and falafel mix
• General kitchen cleaning and prep
• Friday pita bread production: make roughly 500–1,000 pitas in one session using bakery equipment such as dough mixer, dough divider, and dough roller
• Cutting, prepping, cleaning, and packing food items
• Work quickly and efficiently in a shared kitchen environment
• Follow instructions and processes

About you

• Reliable and punctual
• Fast and efficient
• Clean and organised
• Comfortable working in a commercial kitchen
• Confident with basic knife skills and food prep
• Able to follow instructions properly
• Physically capable of standing, lifting, cleaning, and working at pace
• Experience with dough or bakery-style production, ideally
• Able to work well in a small team
• Kitchen or food production experience required
