The team behind The Stoaker Room in Cromwell & Wanaka and the home of Wild Earth Wines, are looking for new team members for their popular restaurants in Central Otago.

The Stoaker Room will be serving up all our favourite dishes from this one-of-a-kind cooking vessel – converted French Oak Pinot Noir barrel cookers which steam, bake, grill and smoke local foods to create a mouth-watering flavour explosion.

Come join the team and learn the art of “Barrel Cuisine”. While this is initially an entry level position, our ideal candidate would be someone who is keen to progress and learn more about the hospitality industry and working in a busy kitchen setting long term.

Each position is full time with a guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week. More hours are available during our busy catering season of October to April, up to a maximum of 55 hours per week.

Rates of pay will be between $25.00-$28.00 per hour depending on level of experience and the position offered.

Our restaurants are open 7 days a week and standard hours will be rostered between the following hours:

• Cromwell – Monday-Sunday from 10am – 10pm
• Wanaka – Monday-Sunday from 9.30am – 10pm
• Catering – As needed for events, these are always booked well in advance

3 x Kitchen Hand - Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and basic food preparation

·         Wash dishes and equipment to establishment standards.

·         General cleaning and organising duties.

·         Sweep and mop floors as required.

·         Keep cleaning station and all cleaning equipment orderly.

·         Keep kitchen environments and equipment clean and tidy.

·         Ensure dish washer is clean and functioning correctly.

·         Assisting Chefs in Food Preparation.

·         Assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking as directed by senior chefs.

Full training will be given on this distinctive style of cooking. The Stoaker is a unique cooking system created and built by our owner.

A full driver’s license is very advantageous in this region as there is minimal public transportation available.

Role will be primarily based in either our Cromwell or Wānaka restaurant, however there may be opportunities to assist at off-site catering events in our region.
