What they need
Position Title: Manager - Knit Dyeing
Department: Dyeing & Processing
Reports To: Director Operations
The Knit Dyeing Manager is responsible for leading, organizing, and controlling the entire dye house operation in an export-oriented composite unit. The role focuses on delivering high-quality dyed knitted fabrics that meet strict international buyer standards while optimizing first-time-right (FTR) percentages, minimizing chemical wastage, and ensuring absolute compliance with global environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Execution & Operational Excellence
- Daily Planning: Formulate and execute daily production schedules based on the centralized planning (PPC) timeline to ensure timely shipments.
- Machinery Optimization: Maximize the capacity utilization of modern high-temperature/low-temperature soft flow, jet dyeing, and fabric finishing machines.
- Process Standardization: Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for different fabric types, including single jersey, pique, interlock, fleece, terry, and elastane/spandex blends.
2. Quality Assurance & R&D
- Shade Management: Oversee the recipe formulation in the laboratory and ensure precise replication in bulk production using automated dispensing and spectrophotometer tools.
- Buyer Standards: Ensure fabric parameters (such as colorfastness to washing/rubbing/light, dimensional stability/shrinkage, spirality, and GSM) strictly align with international brand specifications.
- Problem Solving: Lead root-cause analysis for any processing defects like patchiness, crease marks, shade variation (listing/ending), or lint issues, implementing immediate corrective actions.
3. Cost Control & Resource Management
- FTR Optimization: Drive initiatives to achieve a high First-Time-Right (FTR) dyeing rate to minimize expensive reprocessing, stripping, and re-shading costs.
- Consumption Monitoring: Strictly monitor and control the consumption of dyes, chemicals, water, steam, and electricity per kilogram of fabric.
- Inventory Control: Coordinate with procurement to maintain optimal stock levels of high-quality dyes and auxiliaries, validating alternative sources for cost efficiency.
4. Compliance & International Audits
- Sustainability Standards: Ensure the dye house complies with global environmental certifications such as OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), and bluesign.
- Audit Readiness: Maintain updated chemical logs, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and operational records required for stringent third-party brand audits (e.g., Levi's, Nike, Adidas, H&M).
5. Team Leadership & Safety
- Workforce Management: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate shift executives, supervisors, lab technicians, and machine operators.
- Safety Protocols: Enforce strict chemical handling safety guidelines, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and 5S/6S housekeeping practices on the shop floor.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.Sc. / B.E. in Textile Engineering (Specialization in Textile Chemistry / Wet Processing) or M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from a recognized university.
- Experience: 8 to 12 years of core experience in a modern knit dyeing setup, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial position within a large-scale, export-oriented composite unit.
- Technical Skills:
- Proven expertise in dyeing cotton, polyester, viscose, modal, and modern synthetic functional blends.
- Comprehensive hands-on knowledge of European/modern dyeing machinery (e.g., Thies, Sclavos, Bruckner, Santex).
- Proficient in using ERP/SAP systems for tracking dye house recipes and production data.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, data-driven analytical skills, strong stress management, and clear cross-departmental communication skills to align with Knitting, Finishing, and Merchandising.
Pay: Rs100,000.00 - Rs200,000.00 per month
