Shape how research knowledge is captured, curated and reused – and see your work applied at scale

In this role, you will design the knowledge environment for Macquarie University's Research Program – the frameworks, taxonomies, repositories, and content that make evidence, methodologies and lessons learned genuinely accessible to researchers, professional staff, industry and community partners.

Reporting to the Research Program Manager within Service Improvement, you will work across a program that brings diverse expertise into one place. If you enjoy moving between design and practical delivery – this role offers real scope to make a difference.

About the Role

As Knowledge Specialist – Research Program, you will:

  • Develop and implement the Research Program Knowledge Management Plan
  • Build and maintain SharePoint knowledge repositories, knowledge bases, FAQs, templates and guidance materials
  • Draft, edit, curate and publish knowledge articles, research insights, lessons learned, methodologies and research resources
  • Gather content from researchers and subject matter experts, translating complex information into accessible, plain-language content
  • Maintain knowledge article trackers and publication schedules, and monitor milestones, risks, issues and deliverables against knowledge management plans
  • Conduct content reviews and audits so that knowledge assets remain current, accurate and useful
  • Test and refine search functionality (AI), keywords, and user experience
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement meetings, as required
  • Provide training to lift knowledge management capability across the program
  • Advance continuous improvement and wider adoption of knowledge management practice

About Us

Service Improvement partners across the University to deliver programs that change how our people work. The Research Program brings together researchers and professional staff to generate, translate and apply knowledge – and this role makes certain that knowledge endures well beyond any single project.

About You

You are an experienced knowledge or information management practitioner who is as comfortable analysing content and building knowledge capability. You translate complexity into clarity, you know your way around SharePoint, and you build credibility quickly with researchers and senior stakeholders in busy, evolving environments.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Research Management, or a related discipline, with equivalent experience also considered
  • Demonstrated hands-on capability with SharePoint, knowledge bases, and content management systems, including search optimisation and user experience testing
  • Proven track record creating, editing, and publishing knowledge articles, guidance materials and templates for varied audiences
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders in complex or matrixed environments
  • Well-developed reporting, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement capability, including preparation of papers for governance forums
  • Capacity to combine plan with day-to-day operational delivery, alongside experience facilitating workshops, training, or communities of practice

How to Apply

To be considered, please apply online with your CV and a cover letter outlining how your experience aligns with the selection criteria (above).

Applications Close: 11:59pm AEDT, 30 October 2026
