Kubernetes Database Engineer

We are looking for a Kubernetes Database Engineer to design, deploy, and operate database services running on Kubernetes-based platforms. The role sits at the intersection of database administration, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native engineering, with direct ownership over the database layer across multiple services and technologies. The team operates on a shift model (10h/day, 5 days/week) with on-call responsibility approximately one week per month.

Goals and deliverables

• Deploy, manage, and optimize stateful database workloads on Kubernetes, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL

• Implement persistent storage solutions, backup and restore pipelines, data replication, and HA/DR strategies

• Develop automation for provisioning, upgrades, and scaling using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent)

• Monitor and troubleshoot database and cluster performance

• Enforce security standards: RBAC, encryption, secrets management, and network policies

• Collaborate with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and Development teams to design and evolve database-as-a-service patterns

• Contribute to international projects and influence current and future technology choices

• Proven hands-on experience running and managing databases on Kubernetes

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL in production environments

• Experience with HA/DR architecture and persistent storage in Kubernetes

• Practical background in CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

• Familiarity with Kubernetes security practices: RBAC, secrets management, network policies, encryption

• Experience working in shift-based or on-call operational models

• Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively at both technical and business levels
