What they need
We are partnering with a growing financial institution seeking a KYC & Client Onboarding Analyst to support customer onboarding and due diligence across a diverse client base.
This is a hands-on role responsible for moving customer files from initial intake through onboarding while ensuring documentation, ownership information, screening, risk assessments, and due diligence are complete and properly supported.
The position is well suited for someone with a strong KYC/KYB, CDD, or EDD background who is comfortable managing files independently, communicating with clients and relationship teams, and escalating higher-risk relationships to Compliance when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned customer onboarding cases from initial application through account-opening readiness.
- Collect and review identification, formation, ownership, authorization, and other required documentation for individuals and legal entities.
- Perform KYC/KYB and CDD reviews and ensure customer files are accurate, complete, and appropriately documented.
- Analyze entity ownership and control structures, including beneficial owners, control persons, holding companies, funds, trusts, offshore entities, and other complex structures.
- Verify entity standing, registrations, and licensing where applicable, including financial-services and payments-related registrations.
- Conduct identity verification for customers, authorized signers, beneficial owners, and control persons and resolve discrepancies or failed verification results.
- Document the customer's business purpose, products and services, geographic exposure, counterparties, expected account activity, and anticipated transaction patterns.
- Gather and evaluate source-of-funds and, when required, source-of-wealth documentation.
- Conduct onboarding screening for sanctions, PEP exposure, adverse media, and negative news, escalating potential matches or concerning findings for further review.
- Apply customer risk-rating criteria and prepare an initial risk recommendation supported by clear written rationale.
- Identify relationships requiring enhanced due diligence or additional Compliance approval and assemble complete files for escalation.
- Coordinate directly with customers and Relationship Managers to obtain missing information, manage RFIs, resolve documentation issues, and keep onboarding timelines moving.
- Support due diligence for higher-risk or specialized relationships, including correspondent banking, cross-border businesses, financial institutions, and third-party programs.
- Review complex international structures and reconcile customer-provided information against corporate registries and other reliable external sources.
- Support onboarding of digital-asset businesses by gathering information regarding custody arrangements, wallets, assets, counterparties, transaction flows, and related risk factors.
- Complete periodic KYC refreshes and event-driven reviews resulting from ownership changes, changes in activity, adverse information, or other risk triggers.
- Maintain accurate records within KYC, screening, and case-management systems.
- Address QA/QC findings, remediate documentation deficiencies, and ensure files can withstand review by Compliance, Internal Audit, and banking regulators.
Candidate Profile
- 3–8+ years of experience in KYC, KYB, CDD/EDD, onboarding, or financial-crimes compliance within financial services.
- Experience working within either the first or second line of defense.
- Strong understanding of the customer onboarding lifecycle, from initial application and information gathering through EDD, escalation, exceptions, and required Compliance/BSA approvals.
- Hands-on experience executing business onboarding, beneficial ownership analysis, CDD, and EDD.
- Ability to analyze complex legal-entity structures and clearly document ownership and control.
- Experience conducting sanctions, PEP, adverse-media, and related customer screening.
- Strong understanding of customer risk-rating methodologies and the ability to provide well-supported initial risk recommendations.
- Experience managing client and Relationship Manager communications, RFIs, documentation requests, and onboarding deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around file completeness, documentation quality, and remediation of review findings.
- Comfortable working across multiple technology platforms, including identity-verification, sanctions-screening, KYC, and case-management systems.
