L1 AS400/RPG Developer

We are looking for an L1 AS400/RPG Developer to develop, maintain, and support applications and platform components within a banking/financial technology environment. The role will be responsible for translating requirements into technical solutions, developing quality code and configurations, preparing deployment packages, and providing production support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for application modules based on business requirements and established architecture.
• Develop and maintain AS400/RPG applications following approved functional and technical designs, methodologies, and coding standards.
• Develop configurations, scripts, and deployment components required for application releases.
• Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions and testable requirements.
• Prepare test cases and document test results and outcomes.
• Prepare package files, configuration files, deployment scripts, and installation guides for different environments.
• Create and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and user guides.
• Monitor and report project progress, issues, and technical concerns to the Delivery Manager.
• Provide application and production support when required.
• Collaborate with technology and business teams to resolve application issues and deliver enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in AS400/RPG development.
• Strong experience in designing algorithms and developing RPG programs, preferably for business-critical applications.
• Knowledge of Financial Core Banking processes is an advantage.
• Exposure to EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) is an advantage.
• Experience with API interfaces/integration is a plus.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand and clearly articulate business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
• Experience creating technical documentation as part of the SDLC.
• Ability to translate requirements into testable requirements and prepare test cases and test results.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with business and technology teams.
