L1 Network Support Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented L1 Network Support Engineer to provide first-level technical support for enterprise network infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring network performance, troubleshooting basic network issues, handling user incidents, and escalating complex problems to higher support levels.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network devices and links through Network Management Systems (NMS)
• Identify, acknowledge, and troubleshoot network alarms and alerts
• Perform routine health checks for routers, switches, wireless controllers, firewalls, and WAN circuits
• Ensure network availability and uptime as per defined SLAs
• Respond to network incidents reported by users, monitoring tools, or service providers
• Perform initial troubleshooting for LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and Internet-related issues
• Create, update, and track incidents through the ticketing system
• Escalate unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams within defined timelines
• Assist users with network connectivity issues
• Support wired and wireless access troubleshooting

About you

• Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
• 1 to 2 years of experience in Network Operations Center (NOC) or IT Support environment
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT
• Basic knowledge of Routing and Switching concepts
• Basic knowledge of VLANs, STP, EtherChannel
• Basic knowledge of Wireless networking concepts
• Basic knowledge of VPN fundamentals
• Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools (Ping, Traceroute, Telnet, SSH)
• Proficiency in Cat6/Cat6a and Fiber Optic (SFP, LC/SC) cabling and crimping
• CCNA certification is preferred
