Job Description Database Developer

Position: Database Developer
Experience: 610 Years
Location: Mumbai Onsite

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Database Developer with strong hands-on expertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL. The candidate will be responsible for database design, development, optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting while working closely with application development and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain databases using MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and database objects.
• Design efficient database schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships.
• Perform query optimization and performance tuning.
• Analyze and resolve database performance and data-related issues.
• Implement database changes, migrations, and upgrades.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, security, and availability.
• Work with developers to optimize application-to-database interactions.
• Perform database monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes.
• Participate in database migration projects between environments or database platforms.
• Write and maintain technical documentation related to database structures and processes.
• Follow database development standards, coding best practices, and change-management procedures.

Required Skills

• 6–10 years of hands-on experience in Database Development.

• Strong proficiency in MySQL.

• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL.

• Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

• Strong understanding of database design, normalization, relationships, and constraints.

• Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.

• Good understanding of transactions, locking, concurrency, and isolation levels.

• Experience with database backup, restore, and recovery concepts.

• Knowledge of database migration and deployment processes.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with cloud databases such as AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Knowledge of database replication and high-availability concepts.
• Experience with ETL/data migration processes.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD processes.
• Exposure to database automation and scripting.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and shell scripting.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
