Job Description Lab Technician (Chemical Testing)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Lab Technician with 2–4 years of experience in chemical testing and laboratory operations. The candidate should have practical knowledge of viscosity testing, heat testing, nitrogen content analysis, mineral matter determination, appearance inspection, chemical properties, and safe acid handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests to evaluate viscosity, heat resistance/heat test parameters, nitrogen content, and mineral matter as per applicable testing procedures.
• Perform appearance testing, including colour, consistency, uniformity, and visible impurities.
• Handle acids, chemicals, and reagents safely while following established SOPs and laboratory safety standards.
• Prepare chemical solutions and reagents using the correct concentrations and dilution procedures.
• Perform pH measurement, titration, and other routine chemical analyses as required.
• Collect, label, prepare, and test samples according to defined specifications.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
• Record test observations, maintain laboratory registers, and prepare test reports accurately.
• Ensure proper chemical storage, labelling, segregation, and disposal of laboratory waste.
• Follow PPE requirements, SDS/MSDS guidelines, and chemical spill and emergency response procedures.
• Report deviations, abnormal results, and quality-related issues to the concerned supervisor.

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge of viscosity measurement and heat testing.
• Experience in nitrogen content analysis and mineral matter determination.
• Knowledge of appearance testing and basic chemical analysis.
• Understanding of chemical properties, acid handling, concentration, and dilution procedures.
• Familiarity with pH measurement, titration, and laboratory safety practices.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and maintain accurate test records.

Educational Qualification

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline.

Experience

2–4 years of hands-on experience in a chemical testing laboratory, quality control laboratory, or industrial laboratory.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with practical experience in chemical analysis, material testing, laboratory equipment handling, and industrial quality control will be preferred.
