Lab Assistant - Mechanical

Department: Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist faculty and students during laboratory sessions and demonstrations.
• Prepare, set up, and maintain lab equipment, tools, and experiments.
• Handle instruments and equipment with high precision and care to ensure accurate results.
• Ensure strict adherence to calibration standards and safety protocols at all times.
• Perform regular calibration and maintenance of lab machines and tools.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated instruments such as Nano Indenter and Dynamic Mechanical Analyser (DMA).
• Inspect equipment periodically and report faults or repair needs.
• Maintain lab records, inventory, and equipment usage logs.
• Support installation, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of lab equipment.
• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance in the lab.
• Assist in procurement and stock management of lab materials and consumables.

Qualification:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of mechanical lab equipment and workshop practices (lathe, welding, fitting, etc.).
• Experience in handling and operating advanced instruments like Nano Indenter and Dynamic Mechanical Analyser (DMA).
• Strong attention to detail and precision handling skills.
• Understanding of calibration procedures and safety standards.
• Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, documentation).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
