Lab Engineer – Construction Material Testing

About the role

Lab Engineer – Construction Material Testing at Architest Laboratory Sdn Bhd, Technical / Laboratory Operations department. The role involves performing and coordinating construction material testing, geotechnical laboratory testing and site testing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate construction material testing, geotechnical laboratory testing and site testing activities.
• Assist in reviewing test results, checking calculations and preparing accurate technical test reports.
• Support construction material testing involving soil, concrete, aggregates, sand, rock and other relevant materials.
• Ensure testing activities comply with applicable test methods, standards, laboratory procedures and customer requirements.
• Assist in maintaining the laboratory's MS ISO/IEC 17025 quality management system, including technical documentation, quality control records and corrective actions.
• Assist with equipment checks, method verification, quality control and preparation for internal and external audits.
• Coordinate with laboratory personnel, site teams and customers to ensure testing work is completed accurately and on time.
• Perform other technical and laboratory-related duties as assigned.

About you

• Possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Preferably 2–5 years of relevant experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical testing, site testing or a related field.
• Familiarity with relevant BS, ASTM, MS or BS EN ISO testing standards is preferred.
• Basic understanding of MS ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory quality requirements is an advantage.
• Able to interpret technical data, perform calculations and prepare clear technical reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic documentation.
• Responsible, detail-oriented, willing to learn and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willing to travel to construction sites when required.
