About Brokkr
Brokkr Mineral Resources is developing a biological process for extracting critical metals such as nickel and cobalt. We run a bench-scale process in our lab in Burnaby, and over the next year we are building our first pilot plant.
The Role
Our scientists and engineers design the equipment used in our process. We need a hands-on technician to do the practical work: soldering, wiring, assembling, 3D printing parts, and keeping pumps and tubing running. Most of your work will come from our lead equipment scientist, with day-to-day requests from the rest of the team.
You don’t need to be an engineer or a scientist. If you’re handy, careful and like fixing things, this could be a good fit.
What You’ll Do
- Solder, wire and assemble equipment as directed.
- 3D print simple parts from a scientist’s sketch or description.
- Set up, maintain and fix pumps and tubing.
- Build simple frames, mounts and enclosures.
- Load and make small changes to code on microcontrollers.
- Help the team with day-to-day fixes and repairs.
- Keep simple notes on repairs and maintenance.
What You Need
- Basic soldering and wiring skills.
- Confidence with hand and power tools.
- Experience with 3D printing and basic CAD.
- Basic experience with Arduino or similar microcontrollers.
- Care and attention to detail, and a willingness to ask when unsure.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with pumps and tubing.
- Woodworking or light metalwork.
- Lab or workshop experience.
- A diploma or certificate in electronics, mechatronics or a trade.
The Person
We’re a small team, and the work changes from day to day. This role suits someone who is practical and flexible. You should be comfortable working from instructions and sketches, and know when to ask a question.
Good to Know
We normally work Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times. There may be occasional weekend or extended shifts. These will be planned in advance.
To Apply
Send your resume and a short description of two or three things you’ve built or fixed. These can be from work, school or personal projects.
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
