Own the day-to-day running of the Bangkok cell culture laboratory. The manager keeps sample flow, organoid

culture, drug screening, quality records, and the two-technician team on time and in control, so clinicians

receive a usable report.

The role

Bangkok organoid culture Laboratory tests patient-derived tumor organoids against selected oncology drugs and

returns an ex vivo sensitivity report to the treating clinician. The lab handles fresh tumor tissue, 3D culture,

drug preparation from hospital vials and solutions, viability readout, and controlled reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily laboratory operations for accessioning, organoid culture, drug-panel setup, readout, and report

release.

• Supervise two laboratory technicians: assign work, check technique, review worksheets, and sign off

critical steps.

• Hold the sample chain of custody from receipt of fresh tumor tissue to disposal, including identity checks

and rejection criteria.

• Set and maintain SOPs for tissue processing, 3D culture, media and matrix handling, drug dilution from

vials and solutions, and viability assay.

• Review each run before release: controls, contamination, dose preparation, plate maps, and calculated

sensitivity results.

• Keep turnaround time inside the agreed clinical window and escalate delays to the clinical or operations

lead.

• Own equipment, calibration, preventive maintenance, and service records for incubators, biosafety

cabinets, centrifuges, and plate readers.

• Control inventory of culture reagents, matrices, and drug vials or solutions purchased from the hospital,

including cold-chain and expiry.

• Maintain quality records suitable for audit: deviations, corrective actions, training files, and temperature

logs.

• Train the team on biosafety, patient confidentiality, and spill or exposure response. Stop work when a

result or sample is not reliable.

• Liaise with clinicians and the referring hospital on sample requirements, panel selection, and report

queries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related life science. A

master’s degree is preferred.

• At least five years in a cell-culture, clinical, or oncology laboratory, including at least two years supervising

staff or owning a workflow.

• Hands-on aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture. Organoid or other 3D culture experience is

strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of cytotoxic and targeted oncology drugs, reconstitution from vials, and safe handling

of hazardous drugs.

• Able to write and enforce an SOP, investigate a failed run, and document the decision.

• Thai and English sufficient to read a protocol, write a deviation, and speak with clinicians.

• Eligible to work in Thailand.

Preferred

• Experience in a CAP, ISO 15189, ISO13485, GLP, or similarly controlled laboratory.

• Familiarity with patient-derived organoids, viability or imaging readouts, and laboratory information

systems.

• Experience purchasing or receiving cytotoxic drugs from a hospital pharmacy.

Working conditions

• Based in Bangkok. On site. Some early starts or weekend cover when a fresh sample arrives.

• BSL-2 laboratory with human tumor tissue and cytotoxic drugs. Hepatitis B vaccination and fitness for this

work are required.

• Reports to the laboratory director or country operations lead. Direct reports: two laboratory technicians
