Lab Operator

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Lab Operator to join our bleach production plant maintenance team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand the basic chemistry behind each analysis.
• Apply analytical chemistry principles in performing analyses and reporting data.
• Follow SOPs while performing analyses
• Follow good lab practices
• Communicate result with Board Operator and Plant Manager.
• Obtain a full passdown of information from the previous shift. Go through the spreadsheet. Read over the message board(s).
• Report what happened on your shift to your relief during passdown. Always include any unusual conditions that exist at the end of the shift, even if that condition started prior to your shift.
• Use the whiteboard in the Control Room to report conditions that need attention.

1. Assist the Board Operator in running the plant

• Pull and analyze regular plant samples and special samples as needed
• Communicate results to Board Operator in timely manner
• Run containment samples when it rains
• Keep organized the Sample refrigerator and clean out at month-end
• Communicate promptly with Board Operator upon discovery of spill or unusual condition in the plant or lab.

2. Attend safety meetings – contribute

3. Check lab email regularly for updates and orders from management

4. Calibrate the equipment

5. Check for bubbles in the titrators

6. Maintain the lab inventory

7. Restock transfer pipets and pipet tips at the end of each shift

8. Make copies of forms, such as City Water Report

9. Fill and prepare any chemicals that are less than half-full

10. Enter and save ALL analysis data in Lab Notebook and spreadsheets

11. Clean the lab before end of shift

12. Empty trash bin at the end of each shift

13. Oven-dry all glassware, and air-dry plastic ware

14. Issue bleach, acid, and caustic Certificates of Analysis using correct format and form

15. Calculate dilutions and communicate promptly with Board Operator and Loaders

Salary is Based on Experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
