Location: Dublin, Ohio (On-site, Full-time hourly)

Company: Nanos

Department: Research & Development

About Nanos

Nanos is an animal health company developing a new generation of veterinary products that make administering medicine easier, faster, and less stressful for pets and their owners.

Our proprietary nanofiber technology enables innovative drug delivery formats designed to transform how animals receive medications. We're building a team of scientists, engineers, and operators who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to bring breakthrough products from the laboratory to market.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on R&D Lab Associate to join our growing research and development team in Dublin, Ohio. This role will support the formulation, development, testing, and optimization of our proprietary electrospun nanofiber technology. You'll work closely with our scientific and technical leadership to execute experiments, operate laboratory equipment, analyze results, and help translate early-stage research into scalable, reproducible manufacturing processes. This role will also be involved in the production, packaging shipping of final product.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, comfortable working independently, and excited to contribute in a fast-moving startup environment.

This is a highly hands-on laboratory position requiring on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Experimentation

  • Execute laboratory experiments supporting the development and optimization of electrospun nanofiber formulations.
  • Prepare polymer solutions, formulations, and experimental materials according to established protocols.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrospinning equipment and other laboratory instruments.
  • Evaluate process variables, including solution composition, flow rates, environmental conditions, and equipment settings.
  • Support prototype development, material characterization, and product performance testing.

Data Collection & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate experimental records, laboratory notebooks, and testing documentation.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare concise summaries of experimental results and communicate findings to the broader R&D team.
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory protocols.

Process Development & Production

  • Support the transition of successful laboratory formulations into repeatable, scalable production processes.
  • Assist with process optimization, equipment qualification, and manufacturing trials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product consistency, yield, efficiency, and quality.
  • Collaborate with scientific, engineering, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot technical challenges.
  • Execute production runs, including cutting, weighing, and packaging

Laboratory Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment readiness.
  • Follow established safety procedures, chemical handling protocols, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory workflows and practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, including relevant academic research or industry experience.
  • Experience preparing formulations, conducting experiments, and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate experimental documentation.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals, solvents, and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to troubleshoot experimental challenges.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small technical team.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Dublin, Ohio

Preferred

  • Experience with electrospinning, polymer processing, nanofibers, or other advanced materials technologies.
  • Familiarity with formulation development, drug delivery systems, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Exposure to process development, manufacturing scale-up, or quality-controlled laboratory environments.
  • Experience working in a startup or early-stage R&D organization

Why Join Nanos?

  • Build something new: Work on a differentiated technology platform with the potential to reshape veterinary medicine.
  • Make a tangible impact: Your work will directly influence product development and commercialization.
  • Work closely with experts: Collaborate with experienced scientists and operators across multiple disciplines.
  • Grow with the company: Join an early-stage, venture-backed business with significant opportunities for professional development.
  • Move quickly: Be part of a team that values ownership, experimentation, and rapid execution.

Compensation: $22-28/hr
