RelaDyne is seeking a detail-oriented Part-time Laboratory Technician to join our team! In this role, you will perform laboratory testing and oil analysis on industrial fluids, including lubricants, coolants, and fuels, to help customers monitor equipment health, improve reliability, and make informed maintenance decisions.

Working with laboratory instrumentation and analytical testing methods, you will be responsible for producing accurate, reliable results, interpreting test data, and communicating findings that support our customers' operational goals.

What You'll Do

  • Perform routine laboratory analyses on industrial fluid samples, including oils, coolants, fuels, and other lubricants.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including gas chromatographs (GCs), spectrometers, ICP instruments, hot plates, and other analytical testing equipment.
  • Conduct lubrication analysis, acid/base titration testing (including TAN), fuel dilution testing, and other laboratory procedures.
  • Sort, log, organize, and prepare samples for testing while maintaining accurate records and data entry.
  • Review, interpret, and validate laboratory results to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Analyze test results and provide recommendations that help improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Coordinate outsourced testing to ensure samples are properly routed and results are received in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the management and ongoing development of the oil analysis program.
  • Partner with Reliability Services to develop customer sampling programs, including onsite sampling and remote sampling kits.
  • Communicate with internal teams, external customers, and partner laboratories regarding testing procedures, results, questions, and feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and expand analytical services.
  • Follow established work instructions, laboratory procedures, and all applicable safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, reliable laboratory results.
  • Basic mathematical skills and computer proficiency.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, customer-focused approach when interacting with coworkers, management, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to distinguish colors as required for laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Previous laboratory or analytical testing experience.
  • Experience operating laboratory instrumentation and analytical testing equipment.
  • Experience with oil analysis, lubrication fundamentals, and industrial fluid testing.
  • Understanding of metallurgy and the relationship between fluid condition and equipment reliability.
  • Industry certifications such as OMA, CLS, MLA, or similar credentials.

At RelaDyne, you'll find more than just a job-you'll discover a career with a company that values people, teamwork, and growth. Apply today and join the team driving the future of reliability.
