Lab Technician/Yard Operator

Job Summary

Western Gulf Recycling is seeking a dependable Lab Technician / Yard Operator to support our industrial recycling and wastewater operations. This is a hands-on position that combines basic laboratory testing and sample analysis with truck offloading, material handling, and general yard maintenance. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an industrial environment, and willing to assist wherever needed to keep daily operations running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Duties

• Collect, label, and prepare samples of incoming materials and wastewater for testing.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and record results accurately.
• Evaluate test results to help determine material acceptance, processing requirements, and proper handling.
• Keep laboratory equipment, work areas, and testing supplies clean and organized.
• Follow established sampling procedures, quality-control practices, and safety

Truck Offloading and Material Handling

• Connect and disconnect hoses and transfer equipment as trained and authorized.
• Monitor offloading activities for leaks, spills, equipment issues, or other unsafe conditions.
• Follow proper procedures for material handling, containment, and spill prevention.

Yard and Facility Operations

• Assist with general yard duties, including moving equipment, organizing work areas, and maintaining a clean facility.
• Assist with housekeeping, grounds maintenance, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Report equipment malfunctions, spills, hazards, and other operational concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support daily facility operations.

Physical and Work Environment Qualifications

• Previous laboratory, industrial, recycling, wastewater, tank cleaning, or material-handling experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather and in an industrial environment,
• Ability to safely handle hoses, tools, and equipment and perform physical job duties.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
