Lab Tutor

Newtown Campus is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lab Tutor to support the delivery of practical learning within the IT laboratory environment. The successful candidate will assist students in understanding and applying theoretical concepts through hands-on practical activities, ensure the effective use of laboratory equipment and resources, and promote a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment.

The Lab Tutor will work closely with lecturers and academic staff to enhance the student learning experience, improve academic performance, and contribute to overall student success. This role requires a passion for teaching, strong technical skills, and a commitment to supporting students in achieving their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

· Facilitate and supervise laboratory sessions in line with the curriculum and academic schedule.

· Provide guidance and academic support to students during practical activities.

· Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and resources ahead of sessions.

· Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of laboratory equipment.

· Enforce health and safety standards and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols.

· Assist in assessing practical work, assignments, and lab reports where required.

· Monitor student attendance and participation during lab sessions.

· Provide feedback to lecturers on student progress and performance.

· Maintain accurate records of lab activities and inventory.

· Support continuous improvement of lab processes and student learning experiences.

Minimum Requirements

· Degree in a relevant field (e.g., IT, Science, Engineering, or related discipline).

· Prior tutoring, teaching, or laboratory experience is advantageous.

· Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety standards.

· Computer literacy and familiarity with relevant software/tools.
