Laboratory Administration Manager

Job Purpose

Provide comprehensive supervision over the planning, organization, and operation of all educational, research, and service laboratories, ensuring their continuous readiness in accordance with the highest standards of quality and occupational safety, while effectively managing the human and material resources allocated to the laboratories in support of the educational process and research activities.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Master s degree in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field; PhD holders are preferred.
• A minimum of 14 to 15 years of experience in laboratory management and operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory position.
• Advanced training in occupational health and safety (NEBOSH / OSHA) and laboratory quality management systems (ISO 17025 or ISO 9001).

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop annual operational plans for all laboratories and establish schedules for their use in coordination with the relevant departments.
• Prepare proposed estimated budgets for laboratories, including equipment, supplies, chemicals, and maintenance contracts.
• Ensure the continuous availability and supply of consumable materials, chemicals, and operational requirements.
• Develop periodic and preventive maintenance programs for all laboratory equipment and instruments and follow up on their implementation with companies and authorized agents.
• Monitor periodic calibration processes for laboratory equipment to ensure the accuracy of results and compliance with standard specifications.
• Implement and monitor academic and professional accreditation standards, such as ISO/IEC 17025, for accredited laboratories.
• Implement strict occupational health and safety regulations and ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials and biological/chemical waste.
• Develop evacuation plans and train staff and students on emergency procedures and first aid in coordination with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
• Supervise periodic inventory processes for laboratory assets, equipment, and consumables.
• Organize records for the movement of hazardous materials and monitor the use of restricted or controlled materials.
• Identify the training needs of technicians and laboratory personnel and develop their technical competencies.
• Distribute tasks and conduct periodic performance evaluations for employees within the Administration.
