Laboratory Aide

Position Overview

The Production Aide is responsible for the foundational technical tasks of the laboratory, including the rigorous cleaning disinfection of production areas and the precise weighing and dissolution of media if needed according to the daily schedule. Manage the complete sterilization cycle by operating autoclaves and maintaining optimal temperatures in water baths, while simultaneously preparing petri dishes and materials for dispensing. Following production, the Aides ensure quality control by vacuum-sealing cooled plates, labeling them for storage, and sterilizing all glassware to maintain continuous operational readiness.

Qualifications

1. At least High school graduate

2. At least 6 months experience working in a laboratory setting

3. Knowledgeable about laboratory safety practices

4. Willing to learn and be trained on technical procedures related to media production. Experience in media production, including weighing and computation of media, is an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

· Facility Maintenance:

• In charge of the cleanliness, orderliness and sterility of the production laboratories

• Cleans glassware used in the media dispensing

· Media Production

• Prepares all the materials required for media production

• Prepares media according to established Standard Operating Procedures including weighing, mixing, autoclaving, cooling, pouring, labeling, packing

· Media Storage

• Stores media properly in the refrigerator

• Checks the temperature of the refrigerator (2 to 8⁰C) daily

• Places a mark for client’s identification on the batch of media prepared.

· Waste Management:

• Properly disposes all waste materials on a daily basis to maintain health and safety standards

Performs other tasks that may be assigned as needed
