Basic Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs microbiological, chemical and physico-chemical analysis to provide data to the end user.
• Prepares reagents, media and solutions necessary for the performance of all laboratory tests.
• Tests new and improved laboratory methods and procedures.
• Makes and records scientific observations accurately, prepare and present scientific records and reports and observe safety precautions
• Keeps accurate daily records and analyze statistical performance of results
• Trains and supervises training of laboratory staff
• Supervises purchase of supplies and maintains equipment inventory
• Enforces GLP and safety procedures within the laboratory facility
• Develops a budget for laboratory and maintains control of laboratory costs
• Plans work load distribution and makes schedule
• Participates in planning services for other sections within the plant

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Biology graduate
• With at least 1 year of related experience, but fresh graduates are welcome to apply
• Knowledge of the basic principles and laboratory applications of biology, microbiology and chemistry.
• Knowledge of current laboratory facilities, methods, equipment, materials and ability to perform standardized biological, microbiological and chemical test independently.
• Ability to apply knowledge of information sources in biology, microbiology, chemistry and scientific methodology.
• Ability to carry out and consult with area supervisors.
• Can handle proper implementation of rules regarding Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), 5’S, SSOP and ISO 22000.
• Knowledge on Food Safety and HACCP principles and implementation.
