Laboratory Assistant

About the role

This is a Laboratory Assistant position supporting Flavourists in a flavour creation and sample preparation environment. You will work in a laboratory setting, compounding flavour samples, preparing materials for testing and customer delivery and maintaining laboratory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Compound flavour samples according to approved recipes and instructions
• Assist Flavourists with flavour creation, sample preparation, and sensory evaluations/tastings
• Assist in laboratory testing and analysis of samples (e.g. raw materials and finished products)
• Assist in equipment maintenance and calibration
• Document analysis records
• Prepare and pack flavour samples for applications, product management, QC and customer requirements
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organisation and good housekeeping standards
• Clean, manage and return laboratory glassware and equipment to designated locations
• Provide backup support to other Lab Assistant and laboratory support staff when required
• Other duties assigned by superior

About you

• Possess at least 'O' Level / NITEC in food science & technology
• Minimum 1 year of working experience in laboratory work
• Able to operate laboratory equipment and follow laboratory procedures and safety requirements
• Basic knowledge of chemical handling and workplace safety
• Able to understand analytical and sensory evaluation results
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic computer skills is an advantage
• Reliable, responsible and able to work with minimal supervision
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Organised and able to manage priorities effectively
