Laboratory Assistant

Duties

• Assist with specimen collection, processing, and management in accordance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and hospital policies
• Support laboratory management by organizing and maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment, and records
• Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, spinal taps, and other clinical procedures with adherence to aseptic techniques and safety standards
• Ensure accurate data entry into Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and maintain meticulous documentation of all laboratory activities
• Follow strict protocols for specimen handling, biological sample management, and maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies
• Support research activities by preparing samples, conducting basic laboratory techniques, and assisting with experiments related to physiology and anatomy studies
• Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients to provide excellent customer service while explaining procedures clearly

Experience

• Prior experience working in a medical or research laboratory setting is highly preferred
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures including specimen collection, processing, and biological sample management
• Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIS) and data entry protocols
• Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheterization procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal taps is advantageous
• Understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical confidentiality policies
• Experience working within hospital environments or pediatric settings is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
