Laboratory Medical Coder and Biller

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. This role involves managing medical billing and coding processes to ensure accurate and timely submission of health insurance claims. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical coding guidelines, ICD-10, CPT coding, and billing software, with a strong focus on laboratory billing. The position requires the ability to juggle multiple workstreams, follow up on claims on hold, and maintain meticulous records to support efficient revenue cycle management.

Duties

• Perform medical billing and coding for various healthcare services, ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines.
• Utilize CPT coding and ICD-10 codes accurately to process insurance claims.
• Manage health insurance claim processing from submission to follow-up, including handling claims on hold pending additional information.
• Use billing software such as Advanced MD to input data, track claims, and generate reports.
• Follow up on outstanding or pending claims, especially in laboratory billing where many claims may require additional documentation or clarification.
• Maintain organized records of all billing activities and claim statuses to ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve discrepancies or denied claims efficiently.
• Stay updated on industry changes related to medical coding standards and billing procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding, particularly with Advanced MD billing software.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical coding guidelines.
• Experience with health insurance claim processing and follow-up procedures.
• Familiarity with laboratory billing processes is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while staying organized and detail-oriented.
• Excellent follow-up skills for claims on hold or pending information.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with providers and insurers.
• Ability to adapt quickly to updates in billing practices or coding regulations.
