- Work closely with production and blending personnel regarding product quality
- Assist with formulation adjustments and blend corrections as directed
- Maintain retained samples and laboratory inventory
- Follow laboratory safety, chemical handling, SDS, and quality-control procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience preferred
- At least 1 year of direct experience with lubricants, motor oils, petroleum products, base oils, or lubricant additives strongly preferred
- Experience performing physical and chemical testing of lubricants
- Familiarity with ASTM test methods used in the lubricant industry
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as viscometers, flash point testers, density meters/hydrometers, pour point equipment, and titration equipment
- Ability to accurately document and interpret laboratory results
- Ability to work independently and recognize results that fall outside established specifications
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working for a:
- Lubricant manufacturer or blender
- Motor oil manufacturer
- Petroleum laboratory
- Additive manufacturer
- Independent oil-testing laboratory

Experience with PCMO, HDEO, hydraulic oils, gear oils, transmission fluids, industrial lubricants, greases, or other finished lubricant products is a plus.

Equivalent hands-on lubricant laboratory experience will also be considered.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands that lubricant laboratory work involves more than simply running a test. The ideal candidate understands the relationship between base oils, additives, viscosity, specifications, blending, and finished-product quality and can recognize when laboratory results do not look correct.
