Company Description
About Us
Every day our experienced team of 1800+ people work alongside farmers, producers, and others throughout the food supply chain to help uphold what Aotearoa stands for in food — a higher standard of quality and safety.
We are passionate about our shared role as Kaitiaki Kai, guardians of food, and have a deep responsibility to do the right thing for food and the environments it comes from.
We are committed to attracting, developing, and retaining great people, and supporting them to be the best they can be. We know diverse teams are stronger teams, and we believe in fairness and opportunity for all.
Job Description
- Laboratory Technician
- Fixed Term – 4 months
- Wellington Laboratory
The Opportunity
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technicians to join our Serology Team and wider laboratory team based at our Wellington Laboratory.
In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring laboratory testing is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out and recording sample tests using the correct methods, meeting agreed testing timeframes, and ensuring samples are appropriately stored or disposed of once testing is complete.
This is a fixed-term opportunity, working Monday to Friday, with an early start time between 7.45 am and 8.15am. It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable laboratory experience while contributing to the quality and safety of Aotearoa New Zealand’s food supply.
About You
This role would suit a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Chemistry or Biological Sciences, who is looking to put their knowledge into practice in a commercial laboratory environment.
While previous experience in a commercial laboratory and knowledge of ELISA testing would be an advantage, they are not essential. Full training will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential. Experience working in a highly regulated environment would also be beneficial.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive, team-focused attitude and the ability to work collaboratively.
- A customer-focused approach and a willingness to learn.
- The ability to follow procedures and consistently meet deadlines.
If you’re passionate about science, enjoy working as part of a team, and want to contribute to something that matters, we’d love to hear from you!
