Laboratory Test Specialist / Engineer

We are affiliated with a US-based non-profit organisation, operating a specialised laboratory in Nusajaya that tests fans, dampers, and HVAC equipment to international standards. Our team is small, our work is niche, and we do it well.

What the Job Actually Looks Like

About half your day is physical — receiving and uncrating large fan and HVAC equipment, assembling and positioning units in our test chambers, connecting ducting and instrumentation, and getting everything ready to test. Forklifts and material handling equipment are available for heavy lifts, but this is active, hands-on work in an industrial environment.

The other half is in our air-conditioned control room — running computerised performance tests, monitoring the data as it comes in, spotting anything that looks off, and helping to prepare the test reports.

Everything is trained on the job. You do not need prior experience in fan testing or HVAC laboratory work. What you do need is the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and the kind of person who takes quiet pride in doing things properly.

What We're Looking For

— Comfortable with regular physical work — you genuinely don't mind getting your hands dirty and working up a sweat

— Technically curious — able to follow a process and notice when something doesn't look right

— Stable and reliable — we invest heavily in training and we're looking for someone who wants to stay, not someone who sees this as a stepping stone

— Basic computer literacy — able to use a PC; our test software is proprietary and fully trained in-house

Education and Experience

Diploma in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on work experience. Formal qualifications are secondary to attitude and hands-on aptitude — all technical training for this role is provided on the job.

Candidates with at least 2-3 years in a manufacturing, maintenance, testing, or field service environment are encouraged to apply. What matters more than your credentials is your attitude and your track record of showing up and doing good work.

Compensation

Basic pay RM 6,000 to RM 9,000, commensurate with experience and long-term fit. This is above market for this type of role, and we intend to keep it that way for the right person.
