Laborer

Overview

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking laborer to join our asphalt paving crew. The Laborer assists the paving team by working alongside the paver operator and crew to ensure asphalt is properly placed, compacted, edged, and finished.

This is a physically demanding outdoor position requiring the ability to work in varying weather conditions, around heavy equipment, and in a fast-paced construction environment.

Duties

• Use tamp shoes, compactor, wheelbarrowing of asphalt and use of other hand tools used during asphalt paving operations.
• Assist with handwork around edges, joints, utility covers, drains, and other areas requiring attention.
• Help maintain proper asphalt depth, grade, and finish as directed by the foreman.
• Rake, shovel, lute, and move hot asphalt as needed.
• Assist the paving crew with setup, cleanup, and general labor tasks.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas around the paving operation.
• Communicate effectively with equipment operators and other crew members.
• Follow directions from the foreman and maintain a safe working distance from moving equipment.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting tools, materials and equipment.
• Perform daily inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Perform other construction and paving-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous asphalt paving or construction experience preferred but not required.
• Experience operating a tamp shoe, hand tamper, or similar paving equipment is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45.0 – 50.0 per week
