Laborer - Maintenance

Function Summary

As a Laborer - Maintenance, you'll help maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning work environment throughout the Hollidaysburg facility. This role supports daily facility operations through housekeeping, grounds maintenance, seasonal outdoor work, and general maintenance activities. You'll also assist other facility personnel as needed with custodial, mechanical, and facility improvement projects.

What You'll Do

Maintain the Facility & Grounds

• Follow direction provided by the Facilities Supervisor or designee.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment throughout the facility.
• Help maintain buildings and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Empty trash bins and support indoor and outdoor housekeeping activities.
• Perform seasonal grounds and facility maintenance tasks as needed.

Support Maintenance Activities

• Assist with general maintenance and facility support projects.
• Perform minor custodial, painting, carpentry, cement work, and other recognized craft activities related to maintaining, repairing, or remodeling the facility.
• Read and follow standard operating procedures and supervisor direction.
• Utilize hand tools appropriately and safely for assigned tasks.

Operate Equipment

• Operate motorized material handling equipment to transport materials throughout the facility.
• Operate overhead cranes and/or jib hoists and perform visual inspections to ensure proper utilization.
• Obtain certification and safely operate mobile equipment as required.

Promote Safety & Professionalism

• Maintain a safe work environment by following and enforcing all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, management, customers, vendors, and others.
• Represent McLanahan Corporation positively while supporting the company's core values.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or custodial environment.

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Stable work history with demonstrated positive behavior.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Ability to work successfully in an environment requiring flexibility, initiative, and independent decision-making.
• Ability to operate or become certified to operate mobile equipment.

Physical Requirements

This position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires sitting and standing for extended periods. The role requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, and maneuver materials as assigned. Employees must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and may be required to travel domestically.
