Laborer / Material Handler

Job Summary

We are seeking motivated and dependable Laborers / Material Handlers to join our finish carpentry renovation crews. In this 1099 role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, managing inventory, and supporting carpenters to ensure smooth work flow. Your attention to detail will contribute directly to the success of our team.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload shipments
• Pick, pack, and prepare materials needed to complete tasks
• Operate heavy equipment safely for tasks including lifting, stacking, and transporting materials throughout the jobsite. Telehandler / Sky Trak experience preferred, but not required. Training available.
• Assist in shipping and receiving activities by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety policies to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
• Support jobsite supervisors by executing daily operational tasks efficiently and reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Previous construction / renovation experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction materials
• Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, etc.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks consistently throughout shifts.
• Prior experience with Telehandler / Sky Trak equipment operation will be considered an asset.
• Must have a valid drivers license
• Some jobsites may too far to commute from Metro Detroit and require overnight stays (Mon-Fri, no weekends). Additional travel expenses will be paid when working on these jobsites.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to construction site work is desirable.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
