We are looking for a motivated and reliable Labourer / Plasterer Improver to join our team in Bristol and surrounding areas. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to handle general site support and labouring while gaining direct, hands-on plastering experience and mentorship. While previous plastering college studies or site labouring experience would be an advantage, a strong work ethic, reliability, and a keenness to learn are what matter most.

Workload & Hours

This is a freelance / sub-contract role with variable hours. Workload fluctuates depending on active site projects, so hours will range from part-time during quieter periods up to full-time during busy project phases.

As your skill level, speed, and independence grow, more consistent days and hours will naturally become available. This setup is ideal for someone looking for flexible site experience alongside college studies, other part-time commitments, or personal projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Working directly alongside an experienced plasterer, you will assist with general site duties while learning all aspects of the plastering trade, including:

• Site Preparation & Labouring: Clearing workspace, preparing walls, ceilings, and surfaces prior to plastering, and loading/unloading materials.
• Mixing Materials: Safely and effectively mixing plasters, renders, and associated compounds.
• Application & Finishing: Assisting with applying various plaster finishes to achieve a smooth, high-quality result.
• Tool & Equipment Care: Developing hands-on knowledge of professional plastering tools, machinery, and techniques.
• Site Safety: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Requirements

• Genuine interest in learning and mastering the plastering trade.
• Willingness to carry out physical labouring duties alongside trade training.
• Flexible attitude towards variable weekly hours.
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to contribute when scheduled.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality finishes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Own transport is preferable, but not strictly essential depending on location.

Pay Structure & Progression

• Basic Improver Rate: £10.85 – £15.00 per hour (starting rate based on experience, age-related minimum rates, and initial skill level).
• Higher Rate Potential: As you master the trade and progress to taking on fully skilled work independently, pay increases beyond the improver scale.
• Bonuses: Performance bonuses available for efficient, high-quality work.

• In person across job sites in Bristol and surrounding areas.
