Lactation Nurse

Job Summary:
The Lactation Nurse provides evidence-based breastfeeding support to mothers and families before, during, and after childbirth. The role involves assessing breastfeeding difficulties, assisting with proper positioning and latch, educating parents about milk production and breast care, and collaborating with physicians, midwives, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to promote safe and successful breastfeeding.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess mothers and newborns for breastfeeding and lactation concerns.
• Assist mothers with proper breastfeeding positions, attachment, and latch techniques.
• Educate mothers and families about breastfeeding, milk expression, storage, and feeding practices.
• Provide guidance on maintaining and increasing breast milk supply.
• Support mothers experiencing common breastfeeding difficulties, such as nipple pain, engorgement, or ineffective latch.
• Teach and demonstrate the proper use of breast pumps and other lactation equipment.
• Monitor newborn feeding patterns, weight changes, and signs of adequate milk intake.
• Identify situations requiring referral to a physician, pediatrician, or other healthcare professional.
• Develop individualized breastfeeding support plans based on the mother’s and infant’s needs.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to mothers who experience breastfeeding challenges.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation.
• Participate in prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding education programs.
• Promote current evidence-based breastfeeding practices within the healthcare setting.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and applicable professional standards.

Pay: Php15,029.99 - Php25,000.00 per month
