Duties

• Laminate Application & Bonding: Apply adhesives to substrates and laminate sheets; bond materials using roller presses, pinch rollers, or manual J-rollers to eliminate air bubbles and ensure structural adhesion.
• Material Preparation & Cutting: Measure, mark, and cut plastic laminate sheets, edge-banding, and substrate cores (particleboard, MDF, plywood) using table saws, laminate shears, CNC routers, or hand cutters.
• Edge Banding & Trimming: Apply bevel, self-edge, or solid wood edge-banding; trim overhangs cleanly using hand routers, flush-trim bits, bevel cutters, or automated edgebanders.
• Postforming & Specialty Shaping: Operates postforming equipment or heat guns to bend laminate over rolled edges, backsplash curves, or custom contours where applicable.
• Quality Control & Inspection: Inspect finished panels, cabinets, and countertops for surface defects, chipped edges, glue residue, or debonding/delamination before passing to assembly or finishing.
• Blueprint & Order Interpretation: Read and interpret cut lists, architectural shop drawings, cabinet specs, and work orders for laminate finishes, core thicknesses, and edge profiles.
• Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine maintenance on laminate trimmers, routers, spray guns, and edgebanders; maintain a clean work station; strictly adhere to OSHA guidelines and wear required PPE (respirators, eye protection, hearing protection).

Qualifications

• Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and eye for quality; ability to maintain tight tolerances, eliminate surface defects, avoid glue telegraphing, and ensure flawless edge trimming.
• Background & Testing: Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in cabinet making, millwork, countertop fabrication, or industrial lamination.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with laminate trimmers, hand routers, table saws, contact adhesive spray systems, and edgebanders.
• Strong ability to read shop drawings, cabinet specifications, and tape measures down to 1/16" or 1/32".
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours/day).
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver heavy sheets (up to 50–75 lbs) repeatedly.
• Manual dexterity and steady hands for precision routing and trimming.
• Knowledge of safety practices and the ability to perform heavy lifting when required.
