Laminator

Qualifications
At least 2+ years of GRP/FRP or composite manufacturing experience in boat building, marine, automotive, aerospace or similar production.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• GRP/FRP hand lay-up and composite processes
• Resin/catalyst mixing and working-time control
• Fiberglass fabrics, core materials and bonding
• Mold preparation and release systems
• Vacuum processes where applicable
• Composite-defect recognition
• Chemical safety and housekeeping

Job Responsibilities

Preparation & Material Control

• Prepare molds, surfaces, reinforcement, core materials, resin systems, tools and consumables for assigned work.
• Verify laminate schedule, material identification, batch/expiry information and environmental conditions before use.
• Apply approved release systems and maintain clean, contamination-free work surfaces.

Lamination & Bonding

• Cut, position, wet-out and consolidate reinforcement in the specified sequence and orientation.
• Mix and apply resin, catalyst/hardener, adhesive and bonding materials strictly to approved ratios and working times.
• Use rollers, vacuum-bagging or other approved processes where trained and required; ensure correct core bonding and laminate consolidation.

Quality Control

• Check ply sequence, coverage, thickness and workmanship during lamination.
• Identify and report air pockets, voids, dry areas, contamination, delamination or other defects.
• Maintain required material/process traceability and support approved repair activities and inspections.

HSE & Housekeeping

• Comply with SDS requirements, ventilation controls, PPE, fire prevention and safe chemical handling/storage.
• Keep tools and work areas clean and dispose of resin, solvent and composite waste in designated containers.

Control resin and reinforcement usage and minimize avoidable waste.
