Lampworking Instructor

Song Art and Craft is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Lampworking Instructor to teach glass bead making and flame-working techniques in our creative studio.

We are looking for someone who is confident working with lampworking equipment and enjoys sharing their skills with others. You will teach students in a supportive, relaxed and safety-conscious environment, helping beginners build confidence while encouraging creativity and individual expression.

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging lampworking and glass bead-making classes for beginners and, where appropriate, more experienced students
• Demonstrate lampworking techniques clearly and step by step
• Explain and enforce safe working practices when using torches, glass, gas and studio equipment
• Help students develop their practical skills and complete their projects
• Offer friendly, constructive feedback and individual guidance
• Prepare tools, materials and safety equipment before classes
• Keep the teaching area clean, organised and safe
• Help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for students

What we're looking for

• Good practical experience in lampworking / flame-working and glass bead making
• Confidence using lampworking tools and equipment safely
• Clear spoken English and good communication skills
• A patient, friendly and encouraging teaching style
• Reliable and organised approach to work
• Previous teaching, tutoring or workshop experience is desirable, but not essential
• An interest in arts, crafts and helping others learn

Training on our studio setup and procedures can be provided.

About you

You don't need to be a professional teacher, but you should be confident in your lampworking skills and comfortable demonstrating techniques to others. We particularly value patience, creativity, reliability and a strong awareness of studio safety.

If you enjoy glass art and would love to help others discover lampworking, we'd be happy to hear from you.
