Land Development Project Engineer

I am working with an established civil engineering company that is looking to appoint a Land Development Project Engineer within its Houston operation.

This is a hands-on design position involving the delivery of private development projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers while taking responsibility for detailed civil engineering design and plan production.

Salary: $90,000-$125,000 depending on experience

Job Specifications:

• Design residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects
• Prepare grading, drainage, paving, utility and stormwater plans
• Produce detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Complete technical calculations, reports and supporting documentation
• Coordinate with project managers, surveyors and other design disciplines
• Assist with permitting and municipal approval processes
• Review the work of junior engineers and CAD technicians
• Respond to review comments and support projects during construction
• Help maintain project schedules and technical quality standards

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• EIT certification required, with a Professional Engineer license preferred
• Previous land or site development design experience
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Ability to undertake design work and produce construction plans independently
• Understanding of grading, drainage, utilities and stormwater design
• Strong technical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience working on projects in the Houston area would be advantageous
