Join Wards Gardens as a Landscape Construction Apprentice and learn a skilled trade while working on high-quality residential landscaping projects. Gain hands-on experience, industry-recognised training and the opportunity to build a long-term career with an award-winning landscaping company.

As a Landscape Construction Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced landscapers to create exceptional outdoor spaces for our clients across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with site preparation and groundworks
• Learning how to install patios, paving, pathways and steps
• Supporting the construction of fencing, decking and garden features
• Assisting with planting, turfing and soft landscaping works
• Safely using landscaping tools and equipment
• Helping to maintain a tidy, organised and safe worksite
• Learning to interpret plans and drawings
• Travelling with the team to project sites
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Developing teamwork, communication and customer service skills

Training will be provided throughout the apprenticeship, combining practical experience with formal learning.

Entry requirements

• Enthusiasm for practical, outdoor work
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Reliable and punctual approach to work
• Ability to work well within a team
• Interest in landscaping, construction or horticulture
• Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with clients, colleagues and suppliers
• Confidence to represent the business in a polite and professional manner when working at customers' homes
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above preferred, but not essential
• Ability to travel reliably to our yard near Ledbury each day

Training to be provided

• Level 2 Horticulture
• Functional Skills if required

Things to consider

This is a physically active outdoor role in all weather conditions.

Early starts are required to travel to sites with the team.

Sites are located throughout Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

The role involves manual handling and working with tools and machinery.

Future prospects

Hours per week 37.5

Working week 7.45am – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
