LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION & HARDSCAPE CREW MEMBER

Living Oaks Landscaping — Powell’s Point, NC

Living Oaks Landscaping is hiring a dependable crew member for residential landscape construction and hardscape projects throughout the Outer Banks and surrounding areas. We are looking for someone ready to join our crew this fall and winter, work with their hands, and take pride in building quality outdoor spaces.

Projects include landscape installations, hardscape preparation and installation, drainage improvements, grading, sod installation, planting, and property improvements.

We welcome both experienced workers who can contribute immediately and motivated individuals with related construction or outdoor labor experience. Leadership experience is a plus, but it is not required. A dependable employee who demonstrates strong skills, initiative, and sound judgment may have the opportunity to take on crew leadership and greater project responsibility.

Pay

$18–$25 per hour, depending on relevant experience, equipment proficiency, and driving and trailer-towing skills.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with residential hardscape projects, including excavation, base preparation, material placement, and installation.
• Install plants, trees, mulch, sod, and landscape beds.
• Assist with drainage installation, grading, and other property improvements.
• Dig, shovel, rake, wheelbarrow, and move soil, stone, mulch, and other materials.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment appropriate to your experience and training.
• Drive a company truck and safely tow a trailer as assigned.
• Load, unload, and secure equipment, tools, and materials.
• Keep job sites, vehicles, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow project instructions and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
• Treat customer properties with care and maintain quality workmanship.

What We’re Looking For

• A valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable for operating company vehicles, subject to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
• Reliable transportation to our shop in Powell’s Point.
• Ability to arrive ready to work by 6:45 AM.
• Dependable attendance, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow directions, work with a crew, and complete assigned tasks.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices.

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following is valuable:

• Landscape construction or residential landscape installation.
• Hardscape installation, including pavers, patios, walkways, or retaining walls.
• Drainage, excavation, or grading.
• Skid steer or other construction equipment operation.
• Truck and trailer operation.
• Construction, tree service, farming, or similar outdoor labor.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on outdoor position involving strenuous work. Applicants must be able to perform the essential duties of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Working outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, rain, and changing weather.
• Frequently walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
• Regularly lifting and carrying materials weighing 50 pounds or more, using assistance or equipment as appropriate.
• Performing digging, material handling, and other physical tasks during 8–10 hour workdays.

Schedule & Reporting Location

• Full-time.
• Typical hours: 6:45 AM–4:30 PM.
• Report to our shop in Powell’s Point, NC.
• Sundays off.
• Occasional Saturdays may be required due to weather delays or project demands.

Employees are expected to report to work fit for duty, work safely, and treat customers, coworkers, company equipment, and customer properties respectfully.

Smoking and vaping are not permitted in company vehicles, while actively working, or on customer properties. Smoking or vaping is permitted only during authorized breaks in approved areas away from customers, company vehicles, and equipment.
