What they need

Landscape Designer / Project Manager

Landscape Design-Build Division | Clark Farms | South Kingstown, Rhode Island

Full-Time, Year-Round

About Clark Farms

Established in 1989, Clark Farms is a family-run horticultural enterprise encompassing a full-service landscape design-build firm, a retail garden center, home to Rhode Island’s largest retail greenhouse, a production farm and agri-tourism destination.

Our design-build department completes projects from small retail installations to large-scale, estate properties that might include extensive hardscapes and intricate, highly detailed plantings. Our projects demand technical precision, skilled craftsmanship, and individualized design programs to match client desires. We serve clients throughout Rhode Island as well as neighboring states.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Landscape Designer / Project Manager to lead projects through their full lifecycle, from client consultation and site analysis through design development, estimating, and installation. The ideal candidate is comfortable detailing complex hardscapes, composing planting schemes, and bringing an ambitious design through to successful completion. You’ll be well supported by our in-house installation crews, our highly trained admin team, the latest, advanced management systems and technology and the most extensive nursery inventory in Rhode Island.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client consultations and comprehensive site analysis, including existing conditions, grading, drainage, and site constraints
  • Develop conceptual designs, master plans, and detailed construction drawings
  • Design and detail installations
  • Prepare planting plans and plant specifications suited to coastal New England conditions
  • Produce detailed estimates, material takeoffs, and proposals; present designs to clients
  • Manage projects from contract through closeout, including scheduling, material procurement, budget control, and client communication
  • Direct installation crews to ensure work is executed to design intent and quality standards
  • Perform site inspections and final walkthroughs to confirm every detail meets specification and customers are delighted.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Five or more years of experience in landscape design or project management preferred
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing large-scale, hardscape-intensive projects
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD, and Adobe Suite
  • Thorough knowledge of plant material and horticultural practices
  • Strong command of estimating, construction sequencing, and budget management
  • Polished communication and presentation skills, with the ability to earn the confidence of discerning clients
  • Exceptional organization and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
  • Health care coverage availability and contributions
  • Retirement plan
  • Flexible work schedule, paid time off and vacation
  • The opportunity to see your designs realized by a dedicated in-house installation team and maintained by skilled horticulturists.
