Malibu Nursery & Landscaping

Landscape Maintenance Manager

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA | On-site and at client properties

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with after-hours and occasional weekend communication as needed

Lead an established maintenance division with a company truck and the opportunity to shape how the team delivers exceptional service.

Bring your landscape maintenance leadership experience to a business where quality work and attentive client care go hand in hand. You'll oversee an active maintenance division, support field crews, and help deliver the consistent service our residential clients expect.

About Malibu Nursery & Landscaping

Malibu Nursery & Landscaping has been operating for nearly 19 years and has approximately 55 employees. We specialize in landscape design, installation, maintenance, irrigation, and tree services for high-end residential properties.

Our maintenance division serves 72 weekly accounts and operates approximately 15-18 trucks daily. We're looking for an experienced leader who can keep this operation organized while maintaining the personal attention that has helped build the business.

About the Role

As our Landscape Maintenance Manager, you'll oversee maintenance scheduling, crew coordination, client communication, and quality control. You'll combine operational leadership with a service-focused approach: making sure crews understand their assignments, checking that work meets expectations, and keeping clients informed through clear, concise communication. Working closely with the owner and General Manager, you'll help resolve daily issues, improve efficiency, retain client relationships, and identify appropriate opportunities for additional services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance schedules across recurring residential accounts.
  • Coordinate crews, daily assignments, and coverage when staffing changes occur.
  • Visit properties to inspect completed work and address quality concerns.
  • Give crews clear direction, priorities, and feedback.
  • Serve as a dependable contact for homeowners, estate managers, and client representatives.
  • Communicate service updates and follow through on client requests.
  • Coordinate with leadership, sales, irrigation, and other teams when specialized support is needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve scheduling, service consistency, and operating efficiency.
  • Support account retention and communicate opportunities for additional services or new accounts.
  • Respond to urgent client issues, maintenance emergencies, and staffing communications outside regular hours when needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated experience managing landscape maintenance operations and supervising field crews.
  • Strong working knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and service quality.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple crews, properties, and competing priorities.
  • Experience managing client relationships and resolving service concerns professionally.
  • Clear, concise communication and dependable follow-through.
  • Ability to provide field leadership and travel between client properties.
  • Availability for after-hours communication and occasional weekend needs.
  • Ability to drive a company truck between job sites.

Preferred

  • Experience serving high-end residential properties or working with estate managers.
  • Familiarity with LMN or similar landscaping business software.
  • Experience improving crew scheduling, account retention, or operational efficiency.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 employment

  • Annual salary of $65,000-$90,000, depending on experience.

  • Assigned company truck for work travel.

  • Company-paid fuel, with a fuel card provided.

  • Company-paid vehicle maintenance.

  • Five days of paid vacation.

  • 10 days of sick leave.

  • The normal schedule is Monday-Friday. After-hours client communication, weekend staffing coordination, and occasional emergency response may be needed. Maintenance crews do not routinely operate on Saturdays.

Why Join Malibu Nursery & Landscaping?
