Job Summary

The Landscaping Foreman leads field crews in landscape construction and maintenance work. This person assigns tasks, monitors quality, enforces safety procedures, trains crew members, coordinates tools and materials, and helps ensure jobs are completed on time and to standard. This role balances hands-on field production with day-to-day crew leadership to maintain efficiency, quality, and accountability on every job site. The Landscaping Foreman is expected to work safely, communicate professionally, and contribute to dependable service outcomes that support organizational standards and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day landscape maintenance or installation activities.
• Delegate tasks and oversee use of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Train crew members on work methods and safety.
• Monitor quality, progress, and labor productivity.
• Perform or oversee planting, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation-related work, and chemical use.
• Conduct equipment inspections and inventory checks.
• Support estimates for labor, material, equipment, and time.
• Complete basic records, schedules, and crew documentation.
• Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience

• High school diploma or GED is commonly preferred.
• Degree or coursework in horticulture is recommended but usually not required.
• Vaild Driver's license
• Field experience is often valued more heavily than formal education.
• Knowledge of plant and soil types, horticultural practices, and safe chemical handling.
• Experience operating and maintaining landscape equipment and hand/power tools.
• Ability to establish work standards and enforce safety.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to lift around 50 pounds and work in all weather.
• Relevant certificate may be preferred depending on employer.
• Strong working knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance safety practices.
• Practical experience with equipment, hand tools, chemicals, and irrigation/sprinkler systems.
• Ability to lead crews, communicate clearly, and solve field problems.
• Employers commonly look for hands-on crew experience plus leadership capability.
• This role is usually working-supervisor level, meaning the foreman often performs field work while supervising.

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
