What they need

OVERVIEW

Affordable Landscaping Services is seeking an experienced, self-directed Landscaping Project Manager to price, inspect, and oversee every job we run — installation and recurring maintenance alike. Based in Tucker and serving DeKalb County, we are growing faster than our ability to estimate and supervise the work we have already sold. Working alongside our sales team, you will be the one person who knows every active project inside out, and you will run the field side independently — building your own week and managing your own job sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Estimate every job we sell — walk and measure each property personally, from recurring monthly maintenance agreements to installation and hardscaping projects, and deliver the proposal within 48 hours of the site visit.
  • Partner with our salesperson on pricing — work together to turn sold opportunities into accurate, buildable estimates, validate scope before it reaches the customer, and flag anything that cannot be delivered profitably at the proposed price.
  • Inspect work in progress and at completion — catch quality, scope, and safety issues before the client does, and conduct the final walk-through on every job.
  • Know every active project inside out — scope, materials, labor hours, current status, and outstanding risks, and be able to speak to any of them without preparation.
  • Supervise crews on both sides of the business — monitor installation and maintenance crews in the field to ensure work meets standard, stays on schedule, and matches the scope as sold.
  • Manage budgets and job costs — run regular job cost reviews comparing estimated labor hours against actual crew time, and correct overruns early rather than at completion.
  • Guide planting and material selection — identify plants accurately and ensure sound horticultural practice on every installation.
  • Oversee equipment and vehicle safety — mowing equipment, irrigation systems, hand tools, and company vehicles across all job sites.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and crew leaders — communicate project progress, handle change orders and scheduling, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Uphold safety and environmental compliance throughout every phase of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years in landscaping, covering both recurring maintenance and installation work, with proven crew supervision and project management experience.
  • Hands-on estimating ability — you can walk a property, take measurements, and produce an accurate labor-hour and material estimate without working from a plan set.
  • Job costing and budget knowledge — you can explain gross margin versus markup, and read estimated-versus-actual hours with confidence.
  • Comfortable working closely with sales — you can hold the line on pricing and scope, tell a salesperson when a number does not work, and keep that relationship productive.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish — Preferred. This includes giving detailed technical direction and handling difficult conversations with crews.
  • Strong plant identification skills, with practical expertise in horticulture, turf care, hardscaping construction, irrigation, and groundskeeping.
  • Ability to work autonomously — structure your own schedule across multiple job sites daily, and keep your own records and data entry without administrative support.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage many concurrent projects while keeping close attention to detail.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean driving record, and experience operating company vehicles and towing equipment.
  • Preferred: Service Autopilot experience is a significant advantage, as is a Georgia commercial pesticide applicator license (turf and ornamental), GCLP certification, or comparable landscape or horticultural credentials.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

Every truck we run is GPS-tracked and every job is costed, so you will see your own estimates measured against actual crew hours every week — feedback most estimators never receive in an entire career.

There are no approval layers and no regional chain of command. You and our salesperson work the estimate together, and the number you agree on is the number.

The work is already sold, so you are not cold-calling. You are making sure it gets done right and makes money.

We provide a company truck, fuel card, and phone.

OUR HIRING PROCESS

  • An online interview
  • A paid half-day field test, where you will estimate several real ALS properties
  • A session reviewing your numbers with us
  • Reference checks
