Laser Operator

Description: G.D. Roberts & Co., Inc. is looking for a Laser Operator to join our Production team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating laser cutting equipment to produce quality metal parts according to specifications.
What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate laser cutting equipment for metal cutting
• Follow proper machine start-up and shut-down procedures
• Monitor cutting performance and make adjustments as needed
• Perform quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
• Transfer files from Engineering to the laser program
• Sort and stack parts and materials as needed
• Perform lens adjustments when required
• Use a forklift, pallet jack, crane, and hoist to move materials
• Read and understand prints, process sheets, nesting paperwork, and other production documents
• Follow company procedures and the Business Management System
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

• General manufacturing experience, preferably with sheet metal
• Basic math and computer skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools
• Familiarity with a tape measure and caliper
• Ability to understand prints and production documents
• General to intermediate mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment Required:

• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and crouching
• Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Working around laser sparks, dust, smoke, and flash
• Exposure to oils and solvents on products and materials
• Working around sharp edges on parts and materials
• Working around forklift traffic
