About the role

HORIZONTECH INDUSTRIES SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Laser Welder to join our manufacturing operations team in Perai, Penang. This is a full-time position based on-site at our facility. As a Laser Welder, you will play a crucial role in our production processes, utilising advanced laser welding technology to join precision components with exceptional quality and accuracy. This position is essential to maintaining our high manufacturing standards and meeting customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate laser welding equipment to join metal components according to technical specifications and blueprints
• Inspect welded components for quality, durability and adherence to required standards before and after welding processes
• Prepare workpieces and fixtures for laser welding operations, ensuring proper alignment and positioning
• Monitor laser welding parameters including power, speed, focus and pulse duration to maintain consistent weld quality
• Maintain detailed records of welding operations, including parameters used, production output and any quality issues identified
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser welding equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Identify and troubleshoot welding defects and work with supervisors to implement corrective actions
• Adhere to all workplace health and safety protocols and use personal protective equipment appropriately
• Collaborate with production team members to meet production targets and delivery schedules

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating laser welding equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of welding techniques, metal properties and quality standards relevant to precision manufacturing
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work instructions accurately
• Demonstrated attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work consistently
• Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and conducting visual quality inspections
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and process issues
• Ability to work safely and responsibly, following all health and safety procedures and regulations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team
• Flexibility to work assigned shifts as required by production schedules
• Relevant welding certifications or qualifications (preferred)
