What they need

About Us

Columbus Laser and Cataract Center (CLCC) is a growing, three-physician ophthalmology practice specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, including LASIK. With an established location in Westerville and a second location opening in Dublin in October 2026, we are excited to continue expanding our team!

We believe that the way our patients are treated is just as important as the exceptional care provided by our physicians. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, professional, and patient-centered environment where every team member plays an important role in the patient experience.

We are currently seeking a LASIK Ophthalmic Technician to join our team! This position offers a unique opportunity to be directly involved in the LASIK surgical process while also supporting our physicians and patients in a traditional clinical setting.

While previous ophthalmic experience and COA/COT certification are preferred, we are willing to train a motivated candidate who is eager to learn and grow with our practice.

Job Description

The LASIK Ophthalmic Technician will assist with the coordination and clinical aspects of our LASIK program, including preoperative testing, surgical preparation, and postoperative care. On days when LASIK procedures are not scheduled, this individual will work as an Ophthalmic Technician in our general clinic, assisting with routine patient care and diagnostic testing.

Key Responsibilities

LASIK & Refractive Surgery

  • Assist physicians with LASIK procedures, including patient preparation, surgical room setup, and intraoperative support.
  • Perform preoperative diagnostic testing and measurements to assist in determining LASIK candidacy.
  • Educate patients on the LASIK process, including preoperative and postoperative instructions.
  • Assist with postoperative LASIK evaluations and patient care.
  • Maintain LASIK equipment, supplies, and surgical areas to ensure readiness and compliance with established protocols.
  • Provide a reassuring, positive experience for patients throughout their surgical journey.

General Ophthalmic Technician Duties

  • Perform patient workups, including medical history, visual acuity, and other preliminary examinations.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing such as IOL Master, OCT, corneal topography, and other ophthalmic measurements.
  • Assist physicians during clinic examinations and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding cataract surgery, LASIK, and other ophthalmic services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Support daily clinic operations and assist fellow technicians as needed to maintain efficient patient flow.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous ophthalmic technician experience preferred; COA or COT certification is a plus.
  • LASIK or refractive surgery experience is highly desirable but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first mindset.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt between surgical and clinical responsibilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
  • Professional, dependable, and enthusiastic about working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, take initiative, and contribute to the continued growth of our practice.

What We're Looking For

Beyond clinical skills, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of creating an exceptional patient experience. Our ideal candidate is a team player who builds positive relationships with coworkers and physicians, demonstrates professionalism, and takes ownership in the success and reputation of our practice.

If you're passionate about ophthalmology, excited about refractive surgery, and looking for an opportunity to grow with an expanding practice, we'd love to hear from you!
